The scourge of rhino poaching that is threatening the animal with extinction is of great concern to the South African Government and ordinary South Africans.

Since January this year, a total of 279 rhinos have been poached, with 169 of them killed in the Kruger National Park.

"Leave our Rhino alone...or else" says South African Government.

The intensification of South Africa’s anti-rhino poaching activities has seen 155 suspects arrested country wide in relation to rhino poaching activities this year.

15 poachers have been killed in the Kruger National Park by South African rangers who are using military tactics against the heavily armed poachers.

The SA Defence Force, SA Police and State Security have been at the forefront of fighting and preventing poaching.

The anti-poaching ability of the Kruger National Park has been increased with additional rangers being appointed last year.

The South African Defence Force is monitoring the 350 kilometres of national border in Kruger National Park.

“It is my intention to look at the possibility of placing a moratorium on the hunting of rhinoceros” said Edna Molewa, Minister of Environmental Affairs.

Molewa will have support from all over the world to protect the ever dwindling Rhino population in South Africa.

Just how severe the problem is can be seen by the ever increasing number of Rhino being killed in South Africa.
