The biggest wave ever ridden?

Has big wave surfer Garrett McNamara ridden the biggest wave ever is the question being asked around the surfing world at the moment.

Take a look for yourself and make up your own mind.

Claims that the wave was a 90 footer are being taken seriously, which would beat the current world record of 77 feet, ridden by Mike Parsons at Cortez Bank in 2008.

Mike Parsons on a huge wave

McNamara said that he had no idea how big the wave was when he was riding it. The Billabong XXL judging panel will have to make the final call on whether the wave is a genuine 90 footer or not. Either way, it took some serious courage from McNamara to ride a wave that massive!
